Follow along here for construction updates!

2/6/2026 - We are making great progress.  Despite some challenging weather this week, we are on schedule to complete the footers next week.  Many of the footers, including the elevator footers and piers are complete and the remaining footers are being dug and rebar placed in preparation of concrete being poured next week.
Next Steps - Footers will be completed next week and the plumbers and electricians will begin running pipe and conduit until the slab.  Next week, we will also be working on underground gutter drainage to the completed retention pond.
1/31/2026 - This week we took some major steps forward in the building process.  Footers were dug out this week, rebar installed, and concrete is getting poured.  It has been a steady stream of concrete trucks on campus pouring the footers and the elevator shaft footer.  The fire line running from Sawgrass road to the new building was also completed this week.
Next Steps - Footer work will continue next week followed by the electrician and plumbers installing electrical conduit and piping under the slab.
1/16/2026 - Progress continues!  This week we completed the final survey of the building pad and marking of the building corners.  The pond excavation continues with the target of completion next week.  The team also started trenching and installing the fire line and removed the landscaping next to Dority Hall where the new canopy and walkway will be.

Next Steps - The pond will be completed next week.  The fire line installation will also continue through the gravel parking lot (this will be done during Monday's day off for Martin Luther King Jr's birthday to minimize disruption to carline).  Lastly, the electrician and plumber will begin layout out conduit and piping for installation under the slab.
1/12/2026 - The NextGen Building is progressing!  The retention pond is nearing completion.  The building pad has been marked for the building corners in preparation for the footer work to begin on 1/26.  Over the Christmas break, the connex boxes were moved to their final location, the retention pond drainage conduits were installed, and the transformer change out was completed.

Next Steps - Electrical conduit installation under the building pad will begin this week.  The retention pond will also be completed this week.  Lastly, the demolition crew will finish the demolition of the area next to Dority Hall where the walkway and canopy will be constructed.
12/19/2025 - The building pad is complete!  The exterior loft stairs are getting removed today (12/19), and the retention pond work is continuing.  The priority has been the building pad, resulting in the retention pond taking slightly longer than we thought.  Lastly, the area around the transformer in the playground was  prepped for the transformer change out scheduled for next week.

Next Steps - A final survey will be completed for the building pad on Monday, 12/22 and Dominion energy will be replacing the transformer in the playground to support the higher electrical load on campus when the new building is completed.
12/5/2025 - The electrical site work was completed on 11/25 and power was restored to the campus before Thanksgiving.
The building crews started this week on the building pad, scraping up dirt and grass and bringing in fill dirt for the new building.
The retention pond was started with two test holes.  The soil is getting tested to see what can be used for the build pad.  The digging will commence next week.

Next Steps - The building pad will be completed and the retention pond will be dug out next week.

11/21/2025 - The building site was busy this week!   The trenches for the electrical lines are complete, inspected and filled in.  The electrical lines will be re-routed from the transformer in the playground to the church office, Dority Hall, and the Gym starting this weekend.  The electricians also completed running conduit inside the gym for the location of the new building shut off switch (the current switch has to be moved from the front of the gym) and the new shut off switch box has been installed on the side of the building.

Next Steps - Next week, the electrical wire re-routing will be completed.  On 12/1, the crews will begin digging out the retention pond area out front of the church offices and start prepping the building pad.
11/10/2025 - Work continues!  This week we started on the trenches for the electrical lines.  We have to re-route electrical lines from the transformer in the playground to the church office, Dority Hall, and the Gym.  The trenches were started and will continue into next week.  The electricians also worked on running conduit inside the gym for the location of the new building shut off switch (the current switch has to be moved from the front of the gym).
The team also laid out the building foundations and canopy footings.

Next Steps - Next week, the electrical crews will continue digging the trenches and laying the conduit for the electrical line moves.  Starting on 11/22, they will shut down power to the campus (all buildings except the Worship Center) to connect the new power lines to each building and inside the transformer.  On 11/24, we will begin digging out the retention pond area out front of the church offices.
11/3/2025 - Last week we completed the carline expansion to maintain two lanes for carline and the construction fence was moved out to allow for the needed space to work on demolition and foundation work.  This week, demolition was completed on Tuesday.
Next Steps - Early next week, the electrician team will begin digging trenches and laying conduit for re-routing power for the campus around the new building foundation.  This work will take about 2 weeks to complete, culminating in an electrical power shutdown over Thanksgiving break to reconnect all buildings to the main transformer.  The crews will also begin digging out the retention pond in front of the church offices the week of 11/24, after the electrical locations are completed.
10/27/2025 - The heavy equipment is here!  Demolition work is underway with the concrete wall being removed outside of Dority today.  On Tuesday, the carline area will be expanded to allow for two lanes of carline traffic throughout construction.  To do this, we had to remove a 3 parking spaces and signs in the asphalt and gravel lot and also a light post that will be relocated in the next few weeks.  Once the carline area is finished, the construction fence will be extended into the old carline area to allow space to complete the demolition of concrete and asphalt in front of the Gym.  The demolition will continue through this week and next week
Next Steps - Once demolition is complete, the electrician crew will start digging trenches for re-routing electrical cables across campus and start digging the expansion pond along Sawgrass Rd.  The dirt from the pond will be used for the building pad.
10/20/2025 - Site work has started!  This week we are installing stormwater protection measures - silt fence - around the work site.  This will be inspected at the end of this week before starting demolition work soon after.
Next Steps - Demolition of the asphhalt area directly in front of the Gym and part of the concrete fence outside of Dority.
Expand the carline area to allow for two lanes throughout construction.
